Sugarcraft Club
I have had a number of enquiries about joining the Sugarcraft club, and currently have a waiting list.
I have decided that 8 is a nice number to have in each club, so the first club is full.
We meet every other Wednesday 7 - 9pm.
If you would like to join the waiting list, when it reaches 8, I will run another club on the alternate Wednesday evenings.
Email me with your name and telephone number and I will contact you either by phone or email when a start date is organised
It is a demonstration night, so bring your pad and pen.
I will demonstrate buttercreaming and sugarpasting/icing a sponge cake, then demonstrate various side designs

NIACE Inspire Tutor Awards
I was absolutely delighted to be invited to attend a presentation at the Rhondda Heritage Park and was presented with my certificate by Lynnette El-Khatib, head of Adult Learning at Rhondda Cynon Taff Council.
I do have to thank all of my college students for their wonderful support and never-ending enthusiasm, they do make teaching enjoyable! It really doesn't seem like work!
Below is the write-up from the Rhondda Cynon Taff Website
Inspirational Tutor Nominated for Award - Taf
Inspiring sugar craft tutor, Rhianydd Easton, 37 from Pontypridd, has been nominated for an award in the prestigious Niace Inspire Adult Learners Awards 2009.
The annual awards, which are organised by NIACE Dysgu Cymru, advocates of adult learning in Wales, aim to celebrate the commitment, knowledge and communication skills that inspire adult learners every day across Wales.
Rhianydd who teaches classes throughout Rhondda Cynon Taf was nominated by the Council’s Adult Education Team as a result of her hard work and dedication.
Lynnette El-Khatib, Head of Adult Learning at Rhondda Cynon Taf Council, said; “Rhianydd is our Sugar craft Adult Education Tutor with 4 years experience. It was agreed in July that Rhianydd would run 3 courses per week, but due to high demand whilst enrolling the Council agreed to put on another class.
“Two of these courses are new ventures for Rhianydd – Chocolate Craft that is proving very popular. Rhianydd is an extremely well liked tutor who motivates her group to perform to a high standard; she is encouraging, friendly, very informative and sensitive towards her students.
“Rhianydd owns her own shop Dragons and Daffodils where she makes beautiful cakes, she has given some of her students the opportunity to work alongside her in her shop in order to further enhance their newly acquired skills.
“Rhianydd was runner-up for “Celebration Cake Maker of the year 2007” at the British Baking Industry Awards and also demonstrates for the British Sugar craft guild and “Squires Kitchen”, teaching at International exhibitions, and writing articles for their magazine on “How to”.
“Whilst doing all these things Rhianydd finds time to inspire and motivate her students and encourages them to make the most out of their learning experience her past students make special cakes for their own families, some students have sold their cakes and one of her students has had multiple features in a magazine.
“Rhianydd is a wonderful advert for Adult Education and makes the learning journey both pleasurable for the students and the Adult Education team that work along side her.”
Councillor Eudine Hanagan, Cabinet Member for Education, Skills and Lifelong Learning, said: “Adult Education provides a vital service to the County Borough, helping students to access education, up-skill themselves and reach their full potential, this is especially important in the current economic climate. The fact that these tutors have been nominated for this prestigious award shows just how high the quality of the provision we provide within Rhondda Cynon Taf is. I would like to congratulate all the tutors on their nominations, which are a sign of their inspiration to learners.”

Big changes to the website
Please bear with us while we revamp the website.
We are trying to condense it down and make it easier to navigate, it just got too big!
We have so many customers busy ordering their cakes that we couldn't take it down for the 2 - 3 weeks it would take to do, so we chose to leave it there while we worked. Apologies for any inconvenience this causes.
We are aiming for all the galleries to look the same as the two new iced galleries, back to the good old days where you could click on a photo and get an information page.
The site just grew too large for that to happen anymore, but we would prefer it that way rather than you having to go back and forth to the information pages, we wouldn't the individual information for each cake readily at hand.
We also have a large number of new cake designs to go up.
The estimated date for all this work to be completed is in time for the September Consultation dates 6th September onwards.
But if you notice any broken links as we work, please let us know and we will repair them.
